Valentine's Concert
The Romantics

Arlington, VA (Jan 9, 2019) National Chamber Ensemble's season continues on to the Romantic Era just in time for Valentine's Day with The Romantics at 7:30 PM on February 9, 2019 at the Gunston Arts Center (Theater 1) in Arlington.

The music of the Romantic Period is distinguished by rich melodies, brilliant virtuosity and powerful expression of emotion. The program features extraordinary, exotic and enticing shorter works by TchaikovskyMahlerRachmaninovSaint-Saens and Mendelssohn. A highlight of the evening will be the performance of Dvorak's masterpiece, the Piano TrioNo.4 Op.90 "Dumky" 

Experience the music of the great Romantic composers in a program showcasing some of their best and most intimate works performed by internationally acclaimed artists. Enjoy NCE artists sharing stories, humor, personal perspectives on the music. The goal of the NCE is to build a sense of closeness between performers and audience that enhances the feeling of community and a deeper musical experience.

" In some places it will be like a melancholic song, elsewhere like a merry dance; but, all told, the style will be lighter...more popular, in short, so that it will appeal to all.” The great Czech composer Antonin Dvorak, writing about the "Dumky" Trio.
