Jude Bruce (piano)

Third Prize 2025 NCE Outstanding Young Artist Award recipient, Jude Bruce, 13, is an eighth-grade student at Trinity Christian School in Fairfax, Virginia. He began studying piano in kindergarten and has been studying with Dr. MiHyang Joo since 2021.

Since joining Dr. Joo’s studio, Jude has earned numerous top awards. He won first place in the 2022 Maryland State Gertrude Brown Concerto Competition (Junior Division) and performed his concerto as a soloist with the New England Chamber Orchestra. He was a Silver Winner at the 2025 Golden Key Festival and performed at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall. He also performed in the Honors Recital of the 2023 NVMTA Bach-Baroque Competition.

Additional first place awards include the 2025 Great Composers International Best Handel Competition and the 2023 and 2022 YMIC Metropolitan Music Festivals. He also received second place at the 2024 Bland Fairfax Competition and in the Music of Mediterranean Europe International Competition.

Jude has participated in masterclasses with Professor Kwan Yi (East Carolina University) and Professor Michael Angelucci of the Peabody Institute. He regularly collaborates with other instrumentalists, serving as a cello accompanist once or twice each year, and is frequently invited to play for church services. This winter, he will also perform a duet with a friend as part of his school choral concert. In addition to piano, Jude also studies and performs on the organ.
