David Dubal (piano)
David Dubal is an American pianist, teacher, author, broadcaster and
painter. Mr. Dubal is the host of "The Piano Matters" a program of
comparative piano performances that can be heard on WWFM-FM and wwfm.org and
other U.S. radio stations. He is the host of a weekly radio show on WQXR-FM,
entitled "Reflections from the Keyboard" which ended in 2009 when New York
Public Radio bought the station but in June 2013, Reflections From the
Keyboard returned to WQXR-FM after a four year hiatus. In April 2013-June
2013, Dubal was the host of a new show entitled "The Romantic Piano" on
WQXR-FM. The show was ended in June 2013 and was replaced with the revived
Reflections of the Keyboard. He is the author of several books, including
The Art of the Piano, Evenings With Horowitz, and The Essential Canon of
Classical Music, an encyclopaedic guide to the prominent composers of the
Western canon. Dubal wrote and hosted The Golden Age of Piano, an Emmy Award
winning documentary, produced by Peter Rosen.
Dubal has also
performed recitals, master classes and lectures worldwide, and judged
international competitions, including the Van Cliburn International Piano
Competition.
