Lucas
Das (cello)
2020 NCE Oustanding Young Artist Achievement Award Third Prize winner, Lucas Das is 14 years old and a 9th grader at the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. He has been playing the cello at the Levine School of Music since he was 4 years old, first with Aron Rider and more recently with Henry Stubbs, and has been selected for the Levine Honors Program in 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2020-21. In 2019 he joined the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra, where he is currently principal cellist. Lucas won the Marlin-Engel Competition, intermediate division, in 2018 and the Cogen Concerto Competition, intermediate and senior divisions, in 2018 and 2020 respectively, and was a finalist in the 2019 MCYO Concerto Competition for Strings. When not playing the cello or at school, Lucas loves playing board games and Dungeons and Dragons
